HLC Status 'Notice'

On July 17, 2017 Winebrenner Theological Seminary received a letter from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) indicating that Winebrenner will be placed on notice following the recommendation of the Comprehensive Visit Team in October 2016. Winebrenner remains accredited by HLC while under this status of notice and is fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. The Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff are addressing concerns relating to this status. Winebrenner remains committed to serving God’s mission of reconciliation in changing the world by preparing servant leaders of the Lord Jesus Christ for effective ministry in the Church and the world.

National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA)

On March 2, 2015, the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) approved the State of Ohio to join SARA. On June 15, 2018, the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) and the State of Ohio approved institutional participation for Winebrenner Theological Seminary. NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education.

On January 12, 2018, Winebrenner Theological Seminary received 2-year accreditation status from CACREP. This accreditation status recognizes the educational quality of the program and allows graduates to apply for licensure in the State of Ohio.
