In partnership with 5Q, Winebrenner is offering an online class titled: Accelerated Leadership Development.
Students are able to sign up for this class which is all about Ephesians 4, and the theological foundations of Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Shepherd, and Teacher (APEST) and how to apply APEST for the purpose of discipleship and leadership in your church. This class takes 5Q’s Foundations Cohort and places it into an academic setting that will take place over a fully fleshed out 12 weeks.
5Q is a discipleship and leadership training organization founded by Alan Hirsch and Rich Robinson from the UK. The 5Q website says that “5Q is the capacity to see the APEST (Eph.4: 1-16) in the largest and deepest way possible. We can see APEST as an interpretive key to unlock potential and purposes in disciples, leaders and organizations.”
Students will engage through online instruction, dialogue, assessments, reading multiple books, individual coaching sessions, and a final project that will see them develop an implementation plan for their own ministry context.
In this course, students will accomplish the following:
- Learn the fundamentals and core principles of 5Q.
- Gain an understanding of the theological foundations for APEST.
- Reflect on and grow in your own personal APEST calling.
- Unleash the capacity of shared leadership and teams.
- Begin to implement 5Q in your ministry context.
- Develop a plan for next steps.
The course description reads: “Students learn the biblical basis for the five-fold ministry, as found in Ephesians 4:11, apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers. A theological foundation for five-fold ministry will be explored, considering the domains of personal, leadership, and organizational levels. Students self-reflect on their role in the church as it relates to the five-fold ministry, gaining insight on how to lead better through implementation of related principles.”
This new class is part of Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s approach to developing partnerships with organizations like 5Q and CREO, who focus on discipleship as the core to theological education.
Dr. Brent C. Sleasman, the president of Winebrenner said that, “We are recognizing more and more that theological education thrives when we collaborate in partnerships”. Dr. Sleasman describes these kinds of partnerships as a “the definition of a win-win”, and continued to talk about how the rich content from organizations like 5Q are given structure and credibility at a place like Winebrenner Seminary. Likewise, Winebrenner and her students are connected with and exposed to entire networks of leaders, thinkers, and disciple makers that share our desire to connect theological education with discipleship.
