Disclosures and Policies

Winebrenner Theological Seminary (Winebrenner) is committed to providing its audiences a website experience that offers resources, news, and services that invite the visitor into our community.  

This Privacy Notice describes how Winebrenner collects information through the website and how it may be used. The following information is collected when one visits our website: 

  • General Information 
  • Internet address information (IP addresses) 
  • Aggregate information on what pages people visit 
  • User-specific information on what pages people visit
  • Information on browser capabilities 
  • Information on referring domains (what websites link to Winebrenner) 
  • Email addresses of those who communicate with us via email 
  • Personal information volunteered for specific purposes such as online event or course registration, online applications, online donations, survey responses, or information requests 
  • Winebrenner’s website may log IP addresses and browser types but do not link IP addresses to personally identifiable information. A user’s session may be tracked but their identity remains anonymous unless personal information is specifically submitted. One can browse Winebrenner’s website without entering any personal information and therefore remain anonymous during a website visit.

Payment Information 

When goods or services are purchased, or an invoice is paid through the Winebrenner website the information is provided directly by individual users into Populi. Winebrenner does not store provided credit card information.  

Social Media Services 

Winebrenner makes use of multiple social media services (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) to share information about Winebrenner news, programs and other items that may be of interest. We also integrate these social media services on our site. If one makes use of a social media service on our site, one agrees to the privacy policy of that service. These policies can be viewed through these individual services. 

How we use information 

The information collected by the Winebrenner website is used for internal purposes which include improving the content and usability of the Winebrenner website, registering people for events or courses and fulfilling product orders or information requests. It will not be shared with other organizations. However, Winebrenner may use the information to contact visitors for marketing and fundraising purposes. If a recipient does not wish to be contacted for these purposes, please contact us at the address below or use the optout link provided in Mailchimp® mailings. 

Winebrenner shares personal data with third parties that provide certain services to assist Winebrenner in meeting business operation needs. These parties are authorized to process personal data, on Winebrenner’s behalf and pursuant to Winebrenner’s instructions, only as necessary to provide these services.  

Winebrenner does not sell, rent or distribute any personal information obtained from our visitors to groups not affiliated with Winebrenner, unless required by law. According to federal and state law, Winebrenner may provide personal information to outside parties if a criminal act is under investigation by authorities. 

Several of Winebrenner’s pages contain links which may take the visitor outside of our website. These other sites may send and receive cookies, collect data or solicit personal information and may use this information in ways that are not in accordance with our privacy policy statement. Always be aware of the policies of those sites visited after leaving the Winebrenner site. 

While Winebrenner strives to protect its users’ personal information and privacy, it cannot guarantee the security of any information disclosed online, and notes that users do so at their own risk. Winebrenner’s policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond our control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation. 

Winebrenner reserves the right to make changes to this policy at any time. Feel free to check this page periodically for amendments/updates. By using this site, the visitor agrees with the terms of this Privacy Policy. Whenever information is submitted via this site, consent is given for the collection, use, and disclosure of that information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. 

FERPA 

Winebrenner abides by FERPA (The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, commonly known as the Buckley Amendment). This is a federal law that states an educational institution must maintain the confidentiality of education records.
