Accessibility: Student Voices

Winebrenner Seminary is committed to developing approaches to theological education that fit within the rhythm of life and ministry. We continue to explore ways to appropriately adapt to the rapidly changing needs of our students. You can read more about one such effort during this summer trimester by clicking here.To peak your curiosity, we’ve already had some students who have expressed their appreciation to Winebrenner for working to provide accessible options for pursuing their education (following and reading the information in the link above will help make better sense of these comments – we’ve been referring to it as the “tuition exchange program”):

The tuition exchange program removes potential barriers to education and fast-tracks processes that can kill momentum toward my goals.  This is enabling me to keep a seamless progression toward my degree through Winebrenner. I am extremely grateful for the simplicity and ease it provides so that I can focus my attention on what matters most without worrying about affordability and unforeseen expenses as potential roadblocks. I was able keep my focus where it needed to be because of the tuition exchange program. Without this I would have had more concerns and stress about taking my next steps and more hoops to jump through to keep moving forward.

When presented with the opportunity to enroll in the Chaplain Ministry class at BH Carroll through the tuition exchange program, I seized the chance without hesitation. This decision has proven immensely beneficial, not only in expanding my knowledge base but also in cultivating valuable connections within the field of Chaplain Ministry.

The Chaplain Ministry class has been instrumental in broadening my understanding of the diverse types of ministries encompassed within this noble vocation. This knowledge has equipped me with a deeper comprehension of the multifaceted aspects and responsibilities of chaplaincy, preparing me to serve effectively in various capacities.

In a world where Chaplain Ministry is increasingly in demand, being part of this program has not only enriched my personal and professional growth but has also positioned me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those I am called to serve. I am grateful for the invaluable insights, mentorship, and resources provided by BH Carroll’s Chaplain Ministry class, which continue to inspire and empower me on this transformative journey.

I am immensely grateful for all the financial support that I have received from Winebrenner. Without past support, I would never have been able to pursue an MDiv and meet the requirements of my denomination for ordination. Winebrenner’s newest financial support program that allows current students to take coursework at other ATS accredited seminaries is a testament to the seminary’s mission to equip leaders for service in God’s Kingdom. Since I am pursuing an MDiv at an institution that is not affiliated with my denomination, I will need to spend another year after my MDiv taking coursework at a seminary that is affiliated with my denomination. This is so that I can be further formed in the teachings of my denomination. By being able to take coursework at another seminary inclusive of my Winebrenner tuition, I can meet my denominational requirements concurrently without an additional cost or time. This allows me to start the work of reconciliation and healing the Lord has called me to, sooner than anticipated. A blessing, I know the Lord had a hand in.

  1. […] As Winebrenner works to make theological education accessible and affordable for students, we are experimenting with an innovative opportunity. We are allowing students to take a graduate course at any ATS-accredited seminary for no additional cost beyond their monthly Winebrenner tuition subscription. This allows students to take a course that we may not currently offer and that may meet their particular needs or interests. We launched this program in the summer of 2024 and had three students participate in it. See this blog post for their testimonials: https://winebrenner.edu/2024/04/01/accessibility-student-voices/ […]
