Program Description
Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s Institute for Christian Studies (ICS) is a non-degree program of learning made available to individuals, churches, denominational offices or judicatories, mission endeavors, credentials committees (licensing and ordination), correctional institutions, and more.
Winebrenner Seminary launched the Institute for Christian Studies in fall 2019. With many of the same components as the former Pastoral Training Institute, the ICS is designed to provide pastors, para-church leaders, and lay-leaders a foundation in Christian studies.
Students can engage with Winebrenner Seminary as individuals or under the umbrella of a partnering organization to pursue an ICS educational path.* The program is designed to spur and exponentially increase students’ understanding and application of leadership and key ministerial practices. Learners in the ICS are not required to hold a baccalaureate degree to enjoy these opportunities to grow in their Christian faith. Adults who complete a predetermined sequence of studies will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
This non-accredited program provides basic theological, biblical, formational, and leadership skills through robust, context relevant courses taught by mostly graduate-level seminary instructors. An ICS non-degree program can be completed in as little as two years, with a minimum course count of 12.
The ICS’ course maps, which can be found in the ICS Handbook located on this page, have been intentionally designed to meet the needs of both those currently serving in vocational or lay ministry and those desiring to enhance their Christian understanding and ministry abilities. The program is available fully online through the use of Winebrenner’s integrated Learning Management System.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age. Please direct your questions to Adam Willford, Director of New Student Engagement, at admissions@winebrenner.edu.
You are encouraged to consult the ICS Handbook found on this page for more detailed information the varied curricular maps: ICS@Winebrenner, ICS—Regions, ICS—Pathways, ICS—International, and ICS—Carceral Learning.
